Measure A                                        IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING MEASURE A:

The JM PTA adopted a resolution (click here for Measure A Endorsement) in support of the AUHSD Measure A at the meeting on March 10.  Measure A is the proposed emergency parcel tax that will raise the local funds needed to avoid severe cuts to core academic programs, including science and mathematics, at our four local high schools.    You can find more information, sign up to endorse the measure, work at the phone bank, participate in a block walk, write a Letter to the Editor, and join the e-campaign, all on the Measure A website at http://www.aboutmeasurea.org/endorsements.php.  Remember, Measure K, The Moraga School District Parcel Tax, passed by a mere 27 votes in March, 2004.  We learned first-hand of the importance of every vote!

The Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs Legislation Team is dedicated to the continuous improvement of our children's welfare and education through the guidelines established by the California PTA. We strive to:

  • Keep parents informed about vital state and federal education issues
  • Assist parents in developing the tools and skills of effective education advocacy
  • Encourage individual and collective participation in the democratic process
  • Vigorously advocate on issues that are of concern to local school communities

Legislative Representatives from each of the schools in the Lafayette , Moraga , Orinda , Walnut Creek , and Acalanes school districts volunteer a few hours of their time a month to focus on tracking the education issues deemed most important by parents in our school communities.
