An imaginative writing or story, set at least before 1980, with a historical basis. Maximum of eight (8) pages. |
| Judging Criteria: |
The successful development of an idea or plot. Expression of original ideas and originality of presentation. Historical accuracy. Good sentence variety, effective use of language and richness of description. An entry will not be eliminated for grammatical and mechanical errors; however, those errors may factor in the judging. |

Entries must make historically accurate references to events or conditions. They should be based on historical information obtained from a variety of reference materials, old newspapers or personal interviews. Make sure the details in the story are true to the period about which you are writing. |

Joint submissions, by two or more people, are not eligible. |

Format: Entry must be typed, double-spaced, with a minimum of 1” margins on all sides.

Fonts: Must be size 12, and, if possible, in Times New Roman font. Do NOT use a script (cursive-style) font. |
